This just in from American Libraries – the magazine of the ALA.  Beverly Goldberg reviews the Oscar award winning film allegory The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore.  Beverly’s review here:  Oscar Nod to Fantastic Flying Books Shows Love for Libraries | American Libraries Magazine.

Once you have a chance to read about the inspiration for the characters, the message and who it’s dedicated to, do not miss the chance to view the film (it’s short!!! and wordless!!! and amazing!!!!) right here thanks to YouTube.

The creators of this work have already received awards at 13 film festivals.  William Joyce, the writer for Morris Lessmore has also authored a yet-to-be published children’s book by the same name.  Following this, an iPad app will offer a way to explore Lessmore’s life in yet another unique perspective, unlike the book or film.

Ones to watch for!
